Light Interception and Radiation Use Efficiency of Cassava under Irrigated and Rainfed Conditions and Seasonal Variations

Determining the effect of irrigated and rainfed conditions on light interception, extinction coefficient (k), radiation use efficiency (RUE), biomass, storage root accumulation cassava was objective this study. The field experiment arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. water were evaluated under two planting dates for years. Light interception depended k LAI which affected solar thus biomass production cassava. values ranged from 0.49 to 0.93 nd 0.46 0.86 crops, respectively. RUEbi RUEsr crop growth stages seasons, whereas crops May slightly lower than crops. planted November not significantly different Irrigation at late stage could maintain higher LAI, RUE May, those different.
